My darlings, we've talked about when you'd feel ready to travel without your baby. I was itching for a romantic trip with Alex yet too nervous to leave Toby behind--but for Alex's birthday, we decided to take the plunge! I'd love to share a few photos of our trip...
My mom came from Michigan for the weekend to babysit Toby. We were thrilled and felt really comfortable having her there. (Of course, I still left a psychotically detailed list of instructions, maps and phone numbers:)
When planning our trip, I figured we'd stay in the New York area, but then I found an AMAZING deal online for a hotel room at Parrot Cay in the Turks & Caicos! Neither Alex nor I had ever been to the Caribbean (have you?), and it was only a three-hour flight from New York. So, after some thought--since we were celebrating both Alex's birthday trip and our first trip without Toby--I decided to go for it and book two nights. We. Were. Psyched.
As soon as we arrived, we headed straight the beach, which seemed like it was in the middle of nowhere. The white sand led to warm turquoise water that was so clear, you could see your feet. You could wade way, way out into the water and still only be up to your waist. It was like out of a magazine. I'd never seen anything like it!

Then we walked to the restaurant for lunch, where we shared conch fritters and fish tacos.
Afterward, we read books by the pool, which was gorgeous.
The rest of the afternoon was spent swimming, floating and playing games of Would-You-Rather. The light was so gorgeous, I brought the camera into the water, even though it gave Alex a mild heart attack.
One funny moment: Alex called the front desk to see if we could borrow snorkeling gear, and I overheard his conversation about mask sizes: "My wife has a big head for a woman...I mean...she looks great, but she has a big head...I mean, I have a big head, too..." Haha, noted.
The first night, we relaxed and read books on the World's Longest Sofa, and then ordered room service (including more conch fritters).
But the funniest moment of the trip was our second night, when we made friends with an awesome couple at the hotel and ended up going skinnydipping! We never do that kind of thing, but it was such a funny, nutty moment--and we definitely felt like ourselves pre-baby!
As for traveling without Toby, the experience was thankfully much easier than I had expected (or feared!). And a two-night trip was the perfect length, since I was really missing him on the third day. When we arrived back in New York on Sunday, the cab drove us home, and I dropped my bags and ran up the stairs to our apartment. Oh, I only had eyes for him. Serious smooches ensued right after this photo was taken!!Taking a romantic getaway after having a baby felt so, so refreshing and revitalizing--even more than I had expected--and was just such a treat after a year (or years) of breastfeeding, bathing, carrying, singing, etc.! xoxoxo
What about you? Have you ever been to the Caribbean or any other awesome beaches?
(P.S. Update: My green dress was from Ace & Jig)

Wow Joana that looks perfect!! :-)

ReplyDeleteYay!!! That looks fabulous :)
ReplyDeleteWe are just about to take our 'last hurrah BEFORE baby' trip to Hawaii and we cannot wait.
It must feel so brave to get away after being a trinity every day all of the time - good for you!!
xoxo,
Allison
My husband and I eloped...our wedding took place on the sand at Parrot Cay. We stayed in one of the beach-front bungalows. It was magical. Thank you for taking me back! SO fun to see pics of someone else vacationing there. It's not every day you hear about PC. Thank you! XO
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Caribbean vacation was definitely Punta Cana, DR. Yours looks fabulous though! I've always wanted to go there. I also can't wait to get my hands on Mindy Kaling's book!!!!
ReplyDeletetherebelexperiment.com/blog XO<3
Wow, that looked like a great trip. Glad you enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteLove this! Parrot Cay is one of my favorite spots in the Caribbean! Next time you guys need to check out Amanyara in Provo, heaven.on.earth.
ReplyDeleteAww! Thanks for sharing. You guys look sooo happy! My husband and I honeymooned in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I highly recommend it! We're always talking about going back... xo.
ReplyDeleteTurks and Caico's is still the most dreamy, gorgeous place I've visited in the Caribbean. Like you said, the water is like nothing else. Bermuda and the Dominican Republic are pretty incredible too. Glad you had a fun trip together sans Toby. :)
ReplyDeleteyou two are so cute!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, this place looks amazing! Boy have you made me long for warm weather!
ReplyDeleteMy hubby and I went to the island of Mustique in the Grenadines for our recent honeymoon, was the most amazing place we've ever been. The island is tiny and completely secluded, quiet and just beautiful. We felt like the only people there most of the time!
So fun! I love the whole big headed comment, "No, she looks great but..." Hilarious!
ReplyDeleteAnd you are so beautiful in that dress! I want to see a full shot (wow, that seemed way more demanding than I wanted, but I do!)
A.MA.ZING. :)
ReplyDeletethe vacation clearly suited you both!
(i just bought mandy kaling's book for my sister! do you like it?)
Wow, your vacation looked blissfully free of crowds of people. My kind of vacation!
ReplyDeleteAnd the "my wife has a big head" thing cracked me up. Glad you had an amazing time! It's good to get away every once in awhile!
What a lovely post with beautiful photos! Looks like paradise to me. So glad you had a nice break away!
ReplyDeleteThe couch pictures crack me up....hilarious!
ReplyDeleteI don't know why, but as I was reading the paragraph about skinny-dipping, I completely expected a picture to follow!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds awesome. I'm not a parent, but I can imagine that taking time to reconnect with your spouse winds up making your family stronger in the long run. Congrats for taking "you" time!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had the chance to just take a vacation with just the boy and I. It seems like there is always something in the way! So jealous!
ReplyDeleteso glad you and alex got to get away and enjoy each other and reconnect. from the conch fritters (insert: yum!), the longest couch eva and skinny dipping -- how perfect and just what you needed.
ReplyDeletep.s. toby is getting so big! what a cutie.
I am living in the US Virgin islands. Yes ladies, eat your hearts out! ;) And yes, our water IS pretty awesome most of the time.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good trip without gorgeous little Toby!
Jo, I swear your mother has not aged. She looks great, and congrats on the trip.
ReplyDeleteyour vacation looks like perfection. So glad you made the time for yourself and Alex. I wanted to do this before my 2nd is born in Jan but all of a sudden my husband got called back to work and is working 10 hours a day / 6 days a week. Feast or famine. Oh well, all is good. -lbs
ReplyDeletelovely time spent together!!
ReplyDeleteWow! This looks so dreamy. What a perfect getaway. I would definitely be the person to accidentally drop the camera in the water though :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like an amazing time!
ReplyDeletePosts like this are why I read your blog -- so familiar and human. I think that sharing moments like this only deepen your connection to your significant other in ways you didn't know them before, or maybe just needed to to be reminded of.
ReplyDeleteYou go Skinny Dipping Girl!
Fantastic photos. What every hard-working parent needs.

What a great first trip (without the baby!) How fun that you guys went all out and picked a Caribbean destination rather than staying in NY somewhere. Happy late Birthday to your husband. XO
ReplyDeletelove this post! it makes me happy :)
ReplyDeleteGod, this is just what I'm needing... Our second is 15mths old and is STILL nursing, despite my best weaning efforts and our eldest is 6yrs old - I'm ready for some alone time! Luckily my parents arrive mid December when I shall have some help weaning the little 'un and we'll be able to get away just the two of us. Your post has made me yearn for it even more. Wonderful...!
ReplyDeleteso glad you took the time for yourselves - mama and dada's NEED to rekindle that flame once in a while! We stayed in Turks & Caicos and it was sheer BLISS! you should try Tortola next time - really laid back and not commercialized!!!
ReplyDeleteoh man!! joanna, it looks like such a wonderful vacation! well deserved :)
ReplyDeletehappy weekend...x kate
Amazing pictures!! That couch is unreal!
ReplyDeleteLove the impromptu skinny dipping.
Glad you had such an amazing time!
I. Am. Jealous!!! But so happy you guys did that for the two of you! Milo is 17 months now and I'm still breastfeeding which means I've been sharing my body with him for 27 months!! The mister and I are pining away for a weekend getaway as soon as Milo is weaned! We are a hop skip and a jump away from some amazingly gorgeous beaches and cannot wait to have a few days for us!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics! We are also planning our first extended vacay away from our 14 month old in February and researching destinations. What online site did you get this great deal from?
ReplyDeleteWow, that looks like exactly where I want to be right now! Toby is so cute :)
ReplyDeleteI have never been to the Caribbean but have booked our honeymoon to St. Lucia and CANNOT wait! The beach is so beautiful, glad you had a great time away.
ReplyDeletexo L.
hahah I love how after the "big head" comment you are sitting at the OPPOSITE end of the huge couch haha ;)
ReplyDeleteooooo so glad you got to go to the caribbean!! We have been twice - St Lucia for our honeymoon last year and St Maarten back in April of this year. Loved it both times! Looks like an amazing trip :) where did you find the "AMAZING" deal??
ReplyDeletei was in oahu/kauai (june) and jamaica (september)...each beach has it's beauty and intrigue and it looks like parrot cay is no exception. simply stunning! everyone is right; vacation looks good on you! :)
ReplyDeletei was looking forward to this post...its nice to see your point of view on my islands.
ReplyDeletehappy you liked turks and caicos!
I love the comment about the psychotically detailed list for Grandmama! Every time I leave the baby (who is now 2 1/2), I have a feeling the sitter thinks I'm a nutjob with serious OCD.
ReplyDeleteThe place looks pretty cool, but I think I'm much more interested in your psychotically detailed list of instructions.
ReplyDeleteI love how you two glow. Hooray for a wonderful getaway and a very happy home welcoming!
ReplyDeletehow exciting! Looks like you had a blast;)
ReplyDeleteHAHA, my sister and I both have bigger-than-average heads, so I read that passage out loud. Very much appreciated, your husband is sweet :)
ReplyDeleteI started looking at your pictures and thought, "that looks familiar"....and then I read where you were! My husband and I just went to Turks & Caicos in October and it was absolutely amazing! I hope you had fun!
ReplyDeletethe big head story is hilarious. also, i want to read that mindy k book!
ReplyDeleteWow, that IS the world's longest couch! It almost looks as if you two had a fight and went to sit in separate parts of the room :)
ReplyDeleteSo jealous you avoided the snow and got warm weather instead! Love the pics, looks like a great time. Isn't skinny dipping so liberating?! Love it!
ReplyDeleteman, i can't wait until we have the opportunity to get away just the two of us... we really need that! looks like you had a wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteI always wondered about the size of your head. Your husband sounds like a total trip! I'm glad you guys had a nice time.
ReplyDeleteLove that you took the time to go on a trip and relax.. very well deserved! I went to Turks & Caicos this year for the first time and the water was exactly how you decribed it: gorgeous and straight out of a magazine!
ReplyDeleteI spent a month in St. John this summer. I don't think you ever get used to the beautiful beaches and crystal clear water. What a getaway!
ReplyDeleteGood for you for taking a trip! Looks amazing. I am not married thus don't have kids yet but my best friend and her husband have taken huge trips without their kids. There first kid was just over a year old when they went to Brasil for 1.5 weeks. They now have three kids but that hasn't stopped them, they've been to Brasil again, Spain and multiple weekends trips. It helps that her sister lives very close so the kids stay with them. I've also baby sat them for a weekend. I deeply admire them for being dedicated to themselves and their relationship. I have no idea how I will feel when I have kids but I hope that I am able to continue to enjoy life as they do.
ReplyDeleteGood for you Joanna!!!! This sounds perfect!!! I LOL'd at your funny moments. : )
ReplyDeletegood for you and how brave of you to skinnydip with friends you just met (yikes! my husband is lucky to see me naked) Glad you took the plunge (pardon the pun) and took a couple days off.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you two had such a great time! Wow, that blue water... how beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThat couch is hilarious!!!! Every March I go with my family to Crane BEach in Barbados. It is the most magical place that almost automatically makes your worries and daily life disappear. I love it! Your vaca sounds amazing, and the place is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteParrot cay sounds amazing and I must be the only Sydney sider who Knows what a conch fritter is, I love them! Thanks for sharing, next time we visit NYC well spend a couple of days on parrot cay.
ReplyDeletei can only imagine how happy you must have been to run to toby after a couple of days and what a beautiful romantic trip with hubby. all things needed!
ReplyDeleteit'll be a while yet to do this with my hubby, still breastfeeding. but really looking forward to this moment too!
Wow - gorgeous! I've never felt inclined to visit the Caribbean, but you may have just changed my mind. And the snorkeling comment made me laugh out loud! Glad you got away and had a great time!
ReplyDeleteLooks like an AMAZING time!
ReplyDeleteThe beach looks fake!
Thanks for sharing and letting us live vicariously through you- HA!

where do you find great travel deals????
ReplyDeleteWe went to Parrot Cay, sans babies, last winter for our first kid free vacation! It was amazing. And.... we saw Keith Richards there. Serious cherry on the sundae.
ReplyDeletei live in barbados and i have to tell you there is nothing like the caribbean! so glad you decided to take the trip looks like you two had an amazing time!
ReplyDeletehttp://theruffledlace.blogspot.com/
Love the photos, Joanna and I think Matt and I need to this. It would be good for us and Baby Mila. P.S. I seriously spit water out of my nose when I read the part about Alex telling the front desk about the size of you head. Too funny. Love how he tried to cover it up, kind of. xo
ReplyDeleteLooks lovely!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you guys went, what a wonderful trip! LOVE the pictures, you're right, the light is amazing! And Toby looked so excited to see you!
ReplyDeleteDominican Republic!!! And you can bring Toby with- they have some resorts that children can have fun too!
ReplyDeleteLooks lovely :) That really is the longest couch in the world! Funny about your head... very adoring guy thing to say :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
I would love to have little weekend with my hubby. Lot of work and no time for going out. We have dates sometimes at home. He loves to make something new and tasty.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love flirting with him, I can do it still every minute I have:)
But I am thinking something nice for our three years anniversary. :)
In love, G
That looks like heaven, I'm so jealous! Glad you guys had a good trip!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fancy weekend getaway! Good for you guys for doing this! I don't even have kids and I hardly ever have weekend getaways. Except if I drink too much and black out, that sort of counts. Just kidding. I'm not that girl.
ReplyDeletei was born in jamaica and been living in nyc for 11 yrs i still dislike winter! this vacation looks wonderful!
ReplyDeletecongrats on your babyless getaway :) I'm sure it took courage. Your pictures look amazing and you all look happy!
ReplyDeletemy first real trip away from my twins was a week outside of london. i couldn't WAIT to see them! i ran in the door, scooped them up and hank immediately got terrible diarrhea down my legs. even that couldn't keep me from being beyond myself to be hugging on them again.
ReplyDeleteJoanna, I really enjoyed this post for so many reasons.
ReplyDeleteFirst, you have such a wonderful way of expressing yourself. You are truly gifted with words and connecting with people through your stories.
Your photos are gorgeous and really reflect just how amazing your trip was. Congrats for you and Alex.
Lastly, I have been told I have a "big head" too so I laughed (with you) at that part and had to let you know, you're not alone!
What a perfect get away!
ReplyDelete1. "Big head" = hilarious. So something my boyfriend would say, trying to be a good guy and keep me taken care of.
ReplyDelete2. Any hints on where you found your deal? I am a teacher and looking for a retreat from New England during our spring break. Thanks!!!
Glad you had an awesome getaway. :)
ahhhh. so jealous! we have a 2 1/2 year old and a 6 month old and haven't left them yet but am dying to now after these tropical pics! so fun
ReplyDelete!
Awesome beaches: Australia, Kauai, Belize, Tofino... when you're from Australia you have pretty high expectations of a beach!
ReplyDeleteAs for going away without my kids - we've only done it twice - and only doing a hotwire hotel deal downtown - i applaud for you for flying away... i just can't do it yet but I'll get there!!
don't you love how naughty you feel?!!! and when you see your kid/s again when you return.... arghhh!!
www.simplystylishmom.com
I don't have a baby yet, but this post sure has reminded me that I need a romantic getaway with my guy! We did a quick Las Vegas trip last month for my birthday, but I came down with the flu so it wasn't much fun. I think we need pretty crystal blue water to feel romantic. Great destination pick, Joanna!
ReplyDeletecan't believe you went skinnydipping! I could never be that brave.
ReplyDeleteyour vacation looks lovely!
trips like this are simply the best! we love to take trips to akumal - the beaches are heavenly!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I decided to move in together while on the island next to Parrot Cay. We're going back this New Years with our two children. For me it will always be the most beautiful place on earth. Thank you for sharing your souvenirs of the island. Isn't it so lovely to get away from it all!
ReplyDeletewow! you two really went for it....the caribbean and skinny dipping! sounds so uninhibited and amazing! maybe i should let go of my fears and take a night or two away from our baby...you've got me thinking :)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a fantastic weekend! Glad you made the leap (yay!), and glad you enjoyed.
ReplyDelete(And that water looks amazing!)
ahh it looks amazing! we went to the bahamas for our honeymoon in september - your photos made me want to go back, like now!
ReplyDeletewe just went to the carribean - to grenada for our honeymoon and it was incredible! we had the same experience - gorgeous waters and sand and delicious food and drinks by the beach. we even played would you rather one night hahah
ReplyDeleteso glad you and alex had a great time! didn't you wish you could stay so much longer? we didn't want to leave!
wow, joanna that trip looks amazing- not just the location and the longest couch int he world! ; ) but the fact that you two took the plunge and went for it!
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine what that must have felt like! I'm amazed when I get a 2 hour break from our 1 yr old... let alone a little holiday! There is something about having a break outside the permitters of their bedtime... when they go to sleep it still isn't a "break" in some ways. But you all unplugged and actually left the east coast! well done!!!
ps- you made me all misty eyed reading about your return, I can only imagine!

aka tiptoethrough.blogspot
A well deserved trip, so glad you made happy memories.
ReplyDeleteYes, I am truly fortunate as I have been to so many beautiful places. The Caribbean is among them.
Big Hugs♥
Looks like it was a wonderful trip and Toby looks really happy in that last photo.
ReplyDeleteNever been to the Caribbean but it looks magnificent. Have to add it to my list of places to visit!
First weekend away from our son, we stayed in the hotel room, watched baseball and I drank screwdrivers (with FRESH orange juice)! By dinner time, my husband hired a horse and carriage to take me to the restaurant as I was in NO condition to walk! He teases me about it after 20 years!
ReplyDeletewhat a perfect little vacation. so jealous of that white sand beach!
ReplyDeleteSunshine, blue water and skinny dipping only to return home to your little guy and shower him with kisses... sounds awesome!
ReplyDeleteGetting away with your hubby is the best and most sanity inducing thing ever! glad you had such a great time.
ReplyDeleteI had THE BEST time with Toby. xo
ReplyDeleteI think the comment just above mine is incredibly sweet! It sounds like Toby was in very good hands. :)
ReplyDeleteHow lucky you are to have your mom available to watch Toby! Sounds like you guys had a well-deserved trip, hooray!
ReplyDeleteHey Jo!
ReplyDeleteYour weekend seems to have been amazing!
There's a blogger I absolutely LOVE, (coincidentally also called Joana!) who keeps a blog about..her life in Turks&Caicos! It's www.myseastory.wordpress.com
She has amaaazing photos taken by her and her boyfriend- you should check it out!
You too, all you ladies above who envy Jo's trip as much as I do!!
Love, I
when you're ready for a longer trip, you'll have to visit the north shore of the island of kauai in hawaii! it's my favorite place on earth :)
ReplyDeleteso glad you got to get away - it is refreshing to have alone time with the hubby, but SO wonderful to wrap baby up in your arms when you get home!
I went to the Turks and Caicos this summer and fell in love. My favorite caribbean destination thus far. I plan to go back soon (these pictures made me want to catch a flight this evening)!
ReplyDeleteIMG, I love this!!!!!! YOU ARE MY SANITY.
ReplyDeleteawesome! it looks wonderful, hooray for short vacations!
ReplyDeleteI skinny dipped in college, but then again years later while vacationing in Costa Rica! By the time we got to the beach after a long day of traveling (it was night time) and we ran to the beach and skinny dipped as well! Something about being in a foreign place.
ReplyDeleteTHIS LOOKS AMAZING!@!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat destination looks a drop of all right. I had a lovely few days away (no kids) in Tahiti a while ago. Just five hours from Sydney and a total splash of paradise. Would love to do it all over again.
ReplyDeleteYou are hilarious! I love that not only you went skinny dipping with strangers, but that you blogged about it. Love that blue dress you're wearing on the longest couch everrr. Sounded like an amazingly romantic perfect getaway!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great trip! How did Toby do?
ReplyDeletethis is beautiful! how sexy/fresh/young/amazing of you two to skinny- dip. I love that you guys keep the spice alive!
ReplyDeleteWow! Parrot Cay is amazing! If this is your first trip to the Caribbean, your totally spoiled now... you've seen the best sand and clearest water.... hard to beat the Turks!
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful! I have not been to that island before. LOL for the long couch!! So glad to see a HAPPILY married couple with child, doing newlywed things. :) So important. Keep that romance alive!
ReplyDeleteYou guys are so cute and inspiring at the same time! :)
ReplyDeleteLove Turks & Caicos! Looks like an amazing time :)
ReplyDeletewish i could've gone with you, my sister lives there! :) she has a blog about the turks and caicos ( www.myseastory.wordpress.com)
ReplyDeletethat looked like the perfect getaway!! so happy everything went smoothly for you and toby;-)
ReplyDeletewhat a great trip you give motivation to go out and have fun with the ones we all love...to answer your question yes I have. Part of my family is from the Dominican republic and Ecuador and parts like that. Nothing but what I am going in the summer. That is not a bad flight i think like 5 or 6 hours.
ReplyDeleteHey! I really enjoyed reading this post and I loved the pictures! Also, where did you find the deal online? Thanks, xo
ReplyDeletefun! looks like a nice getaway.
ReplyDeletewhat a magical get-away! we went to Parrot Cay for our honeymoon and it was so special, we felt we had the whole beach to ourselves:) Beautiful pictures Joanna!
ReplyDeleteCool!!! photos look amazing!! My bub is only 8 months and I´ve never left him 4 more than an hour, seems like it would be so hard!
ReplyDeleteDid you all see each other naked? Was that weird or kind of hot?
ReplyDeleteWow! Parrot Cay looks amazing - and how cool to just pop there for the weekend.
ReplyDeleteI'm currently looking for honeymoon inspiration so I'm going to add it to my list.
Thanks for sharing...
that vacay looks amazing! i'm glad to hear you decided to take a break sooner rather than later. in my experience, it's oh so important for mothers (especiallly new mothers or mothers with little ones) to take breaks frequently and, most importantly, BEFORE you really need one. Like eating, it's best done often and before you're really mad from starvation ;)
ReplyDeletethat was the most adorable vacation story! loved the long couch and the snorkeling gear story!
ReplyDeleteI've never been to turks and caicos... but i've been on a cruise in the carribean (including the bahamas, grandcaymen, etc) and got married two years ago in the dominican republig. Absolutly AMAZING!!! Definitly to be reccomended. How you managed to stay only for two days is where i have trouble understanding... two weeks was almost not enough for us! Glad you enjoyed your first trip away from your little guy!!!
ReplyDeletehow fun!! so glad you took the plunge and did it! it does feel great to get away, huh? my husband and i will be leaving the kids (all three!) with grandparents for about a week in December while we head to Hawaii. SO EXCITED!! ...because 1) it's my first "tropical" vacation, 2) the kids ADORE grandma and grandpa (i have no worries, really), 3) i've splurged on a couple new swimsuits and 4) the Northwest will be chilly, cold and gray and i'll be in the SUN, baby!! yes!! your pics have now made me more antsy than ever! bravo. :)
ReplyDeletewhere did you find the deal? my husband and i are thinking caribbean for spring getaway... i love that ny is so close! thanks!
ReplyDeleteLove this. I would love to get away with my hubby as well, but I am still breastfeeding (Henry just turned a year) and I can't seem to figure out how it would work. Soon!Beautiful pics. It's so good to remember how it was before baby. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteSo great! I envy you in the Caribbean :) So nice!
ReplyDeletehttp://thebookoffaces.blogspot.com/
love the big head conversation!
ReplyDeletei went to the dominican republic after my senior year of high school. it was ridiculously beautiful there. i saved all my money to pay for the trip with a few friends. i am still surprised my parents let me do that.
and i got married in jamaica: http://lachapstickfanatique.blogspot.com/2010/12/day-of-wedding-ceremony.html
i think if i went back my next stop would be turks and caicos.
My husband and I are thinking of taking our first romantic getaway in January - after 4 kids in 6 years! We are thinking of two nights away, as well, so your comment about that being the perfect amount of time away was much needed. Glad you had such an amazing time, but I certainly don't forsee any skinny dipping in my future!
ReplyDeleteJoanna--
ReplyDeleteThat trip looks amazing! My husband and I took our second "without the baby" trip in September, leaving our 2-year-old with her grandparents who flew in from CA. We went to Montreal for 3 nights and it was spectacular--I highly recommend Montreal for an easy fun NY escape.
NY kills me in the winter, and I would love to go to the beach again. Where do you find online deals? Thank you!
so fun! good for you guys. looks like you had an amazing time!
ReplyDeleteAmazing photos!
ReplyDeleteMy long time boyfriend has family who live in the bahamas (lucky me!) We love traveling down their for holiday. Looks like you had a blast! May just be inspiring me to book my own trip sometime soon.
Conch fritters are the best. And so is skinny dipping. Isn't the Caribbean wonderful?!
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing! Also very depressing to read this on a Monday morning in rainy old London...
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to celebrate Alex' birthday, it looks so relaxing.
ReplyDeleteBah! I'm going to Barbados tomorrow, and I caaaaan't wait! Thanks for sharing, and I'm glad it was a great time!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you were able to get away for awhile. Everybody needs a break sometimes. It looks like such a beautiful place. And that's funny about what your husband said about the snorkeling gear.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week!

ReplyDeletePlease share where you scored such an amazing deal!
ReplyDeleteWonderful!! I am so blessed to live IN the Caribbean. I'm from Venezuela and let me tell you that this country is BEAUTIFUL regardless of its political issues. If you ever come to Venezuela you will enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteLovely warm and quiet beaches. Of course I would recommend yo Los Roques o Margarita island but we have coasts in almost every estate :)

ReplyDeleteGlad you had a great time, you guys deserve it.
I have never been on Caribean Islands... but I'd love to!
Wow, you don't know how relieved I am to hear that your vacation was as refreshing as you say. My biggest fear after having kids is that it would affect my love for travel. But it's good to see that you can still get away even with a child.

ReplyDeleteDream Island Resort in the middle of Damdama Lake is an excellent Nature resort in Delhi NCR. This nature resort also doubles as one of the largest adventure resorts in the Delhi NCR. It is well located in Sohna Tehsil in Gurgaon District in the middle of a man made water harvesting system of Damdama lake flanked by one of the oldest mountain ranges of Aravli ranges.
ReplyDeleteNice to hear people enjoying life. Although skinny dipping with strangers...I don't know about that. It could very easily turn into a swinging nightmare or bad situation plus you have a kid to think about. Maybe a little too risky for my taste only because I read the news way too much. Not trying to troll I just get soo paranoid when I travel. It is encouraging to see people actually relax and enjoy travel though.
